FP7 Research Theme: Food, agriculture and biotechnology
Objective - Building a European Knowledge Based Bio-Economy by bringing together science, industry and other stakeholders, to exploit new and emerging research opportunities that address social and economic challenges: the growing demand for safer, healthier and higher quality food, taking into account animal welfare and rural contexts; the sustainable production and use of renewable bio-resources; the increasing risk of epizootic and zoonotic diseases and food related disorders; threats to the sustainability and security of agricultural and fisheries production resulting in particular from climate change.

The project HEALTHGRAIN is looking for additional partners
Category: FoodAgriBiotech, Biological resourses, Food, health, well being, Biotechnology, Int. coop., emerging policy needs. By: Gerhard Gass. The project HEALTHGRAIN is looking for additional partners. Especially SMEs partners are searched which have experience in the development and marketing of molecular and biochemical kits, or in use of spectroscopy in grain analysis. Also innovative and specialised small bakeries and milling companies are welcome.

2nd EPOBIO Workshop: 15-17 May 2007, Athens, Greece
The second EPOBIO Workshop was held near Athens in May 2007. The Workshop reported the outputs of the EPOBIO project in the Flagship areas of plant cell walls in relation to biorefining, plant oils as industrial feedstocks and biopolymers.

Report by Prof. Jane Morris on her visit to France to attend the EU-SA dialogue on Knowledge Based Bio-Economy Partnerships for Sustainable Development on 12th March 2007. This dialogue formed part of the BioVision World Life Sciences Forum, from 11-15th March 2007.
