FP7 Calls for proposals published

26 December 2006

In what is hailed as the researchers Christmas present, the EU's largest ever funding programme for research, the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) got underway with the publication of 42 calls for proposals worth almost €4.3 billion on 22 December 2006. The total budget for FP7 is €50.521 billion, with an additional €2.7 billion available through Euratom.

Calls have been published under the Euratom Specific Programme, as well as each of the four specific programmes of FP7: Cooperation; Ideas; People and Capacities.

The calls address the following areas:

  • Cooperation
    • Health;
    • Food, agriculture and fisheries and biotechnology;
    • Information and communication technologies (2 calls);
    • Nanosciences, nanotechnologies, materials and new production technologies (4 calls);
    • Energy (2 calls);
    • Environment (including climate change);
    • Transport (including aeronautics) (5 calls);
    • Socioeconomic sciences and the humanities;
    • Space;
    • Security;
    • ERA-NET/ERA-NET Plus;
    • Coordination and cooperation in the context of ERA (European Research Area).
  • Ideas
    • Starting grants from the European Research Council (ERC).
  • People
    • Marie Curie initial training networks;
    • European reintegration grants;
    • International reintegration grants;
    • Researchers' night;
    • Marie Curie awards.
  • Capacities
    • Research infrastructures;
    • Research for the benefit of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) (3 calls);
    • Regions of knowledge;
    • Research potential (4 calls);
    • Science in society;
    • Coherent development of research policies;
    • Activities of international cooperation (2 calls).
  • Euratom Specific Programme
    • Fission call (based on provisional work programmes, to be confirmed before 1 March 2007).
