The European Commission has opened the 2026 call for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships, offering €399.05 million in funding to support researchers in advancing their careers through international mobility, skills development, and research excellence.
The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships are part of Horizon Europe and are designed to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD. The programme supports postdoctoral researchers of any nationality to undertake advanced training and research projects abroad, fostering interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral collaboration across Europe and beyond.
Eligibility and scope
The call is open to applications in any scientific field, including Euratom research. MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers from all over the world, of any nationality and at any career stage, provided they have a maximum of 8 years of research experience after their PhD.
Projects may be carried out in academic or non-academic organisations, including universities, research institutions, companies, and public bodies.
Supporting research careers and mobility
The fellowships enable researchers to acquire new skills, strengthen international collaboration, and gain experience in different research and innovation environments. The scheme includes both European Postdoctoral Fellowships, supporting mobility within EU Member States and Horizon Europe associated countries, and Global Postdoctoral Fellowships, which allow researchers to undertake a period of research in a third country before returning to Europe.
