The Africa-Europe Science and Innovation Platform (AERAP) Forum side events, organised by South Africa’s Department of Science, Technology and Innovation in collaboration with international partners, will take place — both in person and online — during the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Sevilla, Spain, from 30 June to 2 July 2025.

The AERAP Forum serves as a platform for stakeholders from Africa and Europe to come together and discuss the contributions of science and innovation to shared goals.

Its objectives are to:

  • Expand scientific cooperation: AERAP aims to deepen collaboration between African and European researchers and institutions.
  • Foster inclusive collaboration: The forum emphasises the importance of involving all sectors of society in the process.
  • Strengthen ties: AERAP seeks to build stronger relationships between African and European stakeholders through strategic partnerships.
  • Amplify impact: By engaging policymakers and enhancing the impact of scientific initiatives, AERAP strives to make a meaningful difference.
