5–9 April 2027, Madrid, Spain
The 13th EDCTP Forum will take place in Madrid, Spain, from 5 to 9 April 2027, bringing together researchers, policymakers, funders, regulators, and research and development partners from Africa, Europe, and beyond to discuss advances in global health research and innovation.
Organised by the Global Health European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (Global Health EDCTP3), the Forum serves as a premier platform for scientific exchange, networking, and collaboration. Global Health EDCTP3 is a partnership between European and African countries that funds collaborative research to address infectious diseases and emerging health challenges affecting sub-Saharan Africa, while supporting capacity strengthening, research leadership, and equitable partnerships between African and European institutions.
Held under the theme “Innovating together for resilient global health”, the Forum will feature plenary sessions, scientific symposia, workshops, poster presentations, and the presentation of the EDCTP Prizes 2027. The event is expected to attract approximately 1,500 participants, making it one of the leading global health research conferences focused on partnership-driven innovation and capacity development.
Global Health EDCTP3 has opened a call for abstracts, scientific symposia, and workshops for the Forum. Researchers and stakeholders are invited to submit proposals by 2 September 2026.
Applications are also now open for the EDCTP Prizes 2027, which will recognise excellence across four categories celebrating scientific leadership, collaborative team research, and gender-balanced scientific contribution. Applications must be submitted by the individual or team applying and supported by at least one letter of recommendation from a reputable scientist. The deadline for prize applications is 2 September 2026.
A range of sponsorship opportunities is available, including satellite sessions, exhibition booths, and scholarships for early and mid-career investigators from Africa and Europe. These scholarships will enable promising researchers to attend the Forum, present their work, and engage with the global health research community.
