ONWARD (One Health Network Against Zoonotic Hepeviruses) is an European network advancing on research, surveillance, and prevention of zoonotic hepatitis viruses through a One Health approach.
The Action, funded by COST (CA24140), connects researchers, clinicians, veterinarians, microbiologists and public health experts to promote interdisciplinary collaboration across 30 European countries on zoonotic hepeviruses (hepatits E and rat hepatitis E) using a One Health approach.
ONWARD supports collaboration, training, and knowledge exchange to improve understanding of hepatitis E and rat hepatitis E and their impact on human and animal health.
ONWARD places strong emphasis on empowering Young Researchers and Innovators (YRIs) and participants from Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs) through dedicated grants, mobility support, leadership opportunities and mentoring activities.

Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs)
Support for research visits (1–3 weeks) to partner institutions in other countries to learn new techniques, access specific data or instruments, and
strengthen collaboration.

STSM activities: January- September 2026
Conference Grants
Financial contribution to present research related to ONWARD at high-level international conferences, enhancing visibility and networking.
